Garras Reviews

Overall we were disappointed in our stay, i will list the reasons below. 1. The house was absolutely freezing on arrival, we had to sit under my dogs throws and towels to keep warm. It took around 2 days for the property to warm up, once warm it was fine. 2. The house was not that clean, food crumbs left in the cupboard and mould on the fridge plastic rim, metal kitchen floor was dirty and needed a good scrub, plus the living room wood floor had seen better days, and was still dirty! 3. The oven is full of grease and not usable as when you turned it on and opened the door it set the smoke alarm off, this meant that every time we cooked we had to have the front and back doors open........ unfortunately this was not ideal as the weather was freezing and i had my young granddaughter staying, and trying to keep a dog from running out. 4. The back garden although very small had not been swept the hot tub steps and cover were full of leaves and debris from the tress around, but worse in the small part just outside the back door were large brambles hanging over. Overall for paying nearly 1,700 for a week here i expected far better and felt let down but the state of the property. I am available after 4pm today if you wish to discuss further or after 1030 tomorrow. Jayne Taylor

All good and great position for the beach and the village.
The property was of a good standard and generally of a good standard, a couple of light bulbs needed replacing which we could have done ourselves as spares were provided so it wasnt an issue if anything its a positive as Ive never known this anywhere else weve stayed. We had a very nice welcome pack I particularly enjoyed the biscuits and tea and coffee were very much appreciated. We found our accommodation very comfortable and one of our party is trying to find out where they can buy the bedding it was very comfortable and clean. My husband was particularly impressed with his mattress. What would have put the icing on the cake for us the option to have a breakfast box delivered a bigger pan to cook pasta in and a large Pyrex dish to make cottage pie in for example. I have a disability and the accommodation was easy enough to get around I dont use a wheelchair indoors but I would have appreciated a raised toilet seat and some grab rails in the downstairs bathroom, at home we have one that can be removed if not needed. On the subject of toilets my son and his partner said the toilet in the other on suite was noisy and dripping. We would most definitely stay again we loved the peace and quiet, the beautiful location, food at Blue on the Beach, the breakfast at the cafe and ice cream eaten on the cliff top. It was also a great base to visit other parts of beautiful Cornwall from. Family games nights playing board games in our comfortable accommodation.
Lovely family base . Everything we needed was there .
A lovely modern house which is close to a beautiful unspoilt beach. A small village but with good amenities. Nice friendly pub and good fish and chips. The Canteen is worth a visit. There is so much to do in this area so spoilt for choice. The house was well equipped and on a nice tucked away holiday estate. The cooker was an a bit of a challenge but we are more used to gas. We will miss the sea swims! We would recommend a visit to Falmouth, St Ives, St Michaels Mount, Padstow, Rock and the Minack theatre.
We've been coming to Garras for 7 years now, a lovely, quiet property with the added luxury of a hot tub. Just a few minor issues this year that need fixing. My husband emailed Sykes re these. We will definitely be back
Excellent comfortable holiday house with all the facilities you could possibly need
The property is tired and not particularly clean. It's a surface clean. The oven was dirty, we had to clean any panstrays before use frying pan needs replacing, no oven gloves. Extractor fan didn't work. The recycling bins were mouldy inside, hadn't been cleaned out. The fridge door shelf was broken and mouldy. The kitchen sink was leaking. The ensuite shower trays fill up when showering. All of this was reported to housekeeping. Fortunately the weather was so fantastic, we were out most of the time. We love the area and it was great being so close to the sea and walking down. The walk back up the hill is ok if you're fit! We had a lovely holiday and we're so pleased the weather was beautiful. Its not a spacious house for 8 people and there's no outside space to sit, you are overlooked if you sit out the front. So we were very happy to go to the beach, the Blue Bar is brilliant, walks, towns not far, there's lots to do! The week went far too fast. By the way there's no signal and the WiFi isn't consistent if you need to work.
Second visit here. Lovely property. Great to have 2 parking spaces and a hot tub. Having 3 bathrooms is a bonus. Quiet location and a short walk to the beach and coastal paths. Look forward to returning again in the future.
The place was very well kept, even saw window cleaners a fair few times across the 4 day stay we had a wonderful trip! !
Cynthia
We had a lovely quiet holiday here a few weeks ago in June. The bedding and towels were scrupulously clean. Would definitely recommend.
Katherine
Lovely accommodation, great location, enjoyed our stay. Hot tub was a hit! TV only had sound no pictures. Need a mirror near a plug socket somewhere.
Debbie
Lovely place to stay, clean and we had an amazing family holiday. Would definitely go back here. Loved the hot tub too Thank you
We had a lovely holiday. The property was spacious and very clean. Was an added bonus having the hot tub and 2 allocated parking spaces. Wifi signal was excellent so ideal for streaming etc. Also nice being a 1015 minute walk away from the beach. Local fish and chip shop is worth a try, need to pre order online though. There are a few things to feedback though. Two king rooms are not zip and link, they are 2 single beds pushed together which needs correcting on the listing, this did impact my sleep a bit. Downstairs shower door was very stiff, so not easy to open and close. We couldn't get the hob to work and there were no instructions. Pans were rusty and need replacing.
