Magnolia Reviews

The location and overall the property was well above the expectation. There was an issue with heating, which the site tried to fix next day, unsuccessfully, and given us portable heaters for the remainder of our stay. I would have expected to have basic essentials for our stay provided, such as toilet paper, which we had to go out to buy ourself. The property's specification is to a very high standard, however the maintenance is not keeping up with this standard. On site restaurant offers small choice, but the food we had was always very nice. It was a perfect holiday for our dogs, who enjoyed abundance of local footpaths.
Fabulous holiday in the lodge. Really liked the accommodation and facilities on site and would love to return here for another holiday. Hot tub was great and well maintained. It was nice to be able to use the gym and swimming pool on site. One thing to note the Welcome Pack and towelling robes mentioned on Sykes website are not supplied if the lodge was booked through Sykes.

Although we had a lovely stay and the accommodation was ok it was not without some issues. It was not completely clean, the main areas, kitchen and toilets were clean. But sofas were stained walls were marked door frames were dirty. One sofa was propped up with a piece of 4x2 timber. The water supply in both bathroom sinks was near none existent, of which was horrible to clean teeth in. Windows were all filthy too. I know it's sounds like I am having a go here but to be honest, we had a lovely stay and we would definitely come back, it's just that we paid a lot of money for 4 nights of luxury and it could of been better. The site is lovely, the staff were all lovely too. These are the reasons I could only give 4 stars. Sorry for the negative feedback but I genuinely hope you will look at these issues to make this lodge truly wonderful again

Lovely lodge in a great location. We arrived at the end of a busy season and the site and the property felt a bit tired.Staff were great but a few of the facilities were not operating. Clip & Climb and the Soft Play were excellent, as was the pool, restaurant and gin bar. Some decor issues at the Lodge and a not so SMART TV in the sitting room not directly connected to the wifiinternet, instead using a Chrome connection which was unreliable black screen on many attempts despite saying casting. Check the site plan before choosing a lodge as some are overlooked or surrounded by other lodges with the risk of late night noise from revellers using outdoor decking & hottubs.
Property is showing signs of wear, door handles loose, furniture stained. No barbecue
Outside paint work needs doing. Rear side steps bottom 2steps fixings standing proud a hazard for dogs and anyone with out shoes on . The instant hot water tap in the kitchen was not working and lose and leaking.
Victoria
The site and facilities overall were good. Magnolia lodge has a fairly good location on the site. Not overlooked by lots of other lodges unlike some others on the site. Large veranda decking that is secure enough for dogs. Swimming pool was nice, spa was nice and the free ev charging points were good. If I wanted to stay in that area again would certainly use again.
Firstly the email received from Cove confirming our arrival started a stressful day. They told us our lodge didnt accept dogs which was incorrect information from them. Thankfully Sykes cottages staff were extremely helpful in sorting out the wrong information from Cove. Disappointed on arrival with the glass panels on the balcony area covered in green algae and the patio doors smeared and dirty on the inside, we had to clean them to be able to see out of both. I have photos if you need evidence of this. Interior cleaning was fine, the lodge is just a little tired and needs a little upgrade. Hot tub had sand and dirty black scum so had to get the maintenance team to empty and clean it so we lost a full day of use which was frustrating. Photos of this also if required. Had to get maintenance team to reset heating after a power cut in the area over night on the first night .unfortunately the reset they did didnt work so we bought extra logs and used the log burner which was fine. I would book again if the issues we had were rectified as it started our holiday off on the wrong foot, our lovely relaxing long weekend was not quite what we got.
